Introducing Nick Catling

After leaving the Army in 1985, Nick studied film and photography at Harrow School of Film. Immediately after this he started working in stills, which progressed onto commercial projects advertising coastal destinations.

Having moved from London to Suffolk to pursue these commissions he then opened Galleries and Studios in Southwold and Norwich.

Nick is heavily influenced by Henri Cartier-Bresson who is famous for street reportage photography. Nick has adapted his own distinctive version of reportage composition and introduced it in his contemporary Wedding documentation. Portraiture also takes the feeling of expression whilst capturing personalities and mannerisms.

Nick has provided Awarded Winning Photographs high-lighting children’s suffering in Uganda and Mumbai which has resulted in a travelling World Exhibition.

He has also been proud to assist in illustrating many different subjects in literature such as; Four Seasons at Benacre, The Bloody Marsh, various national papers, music CD’s and coffee table top magazines.

Currently Nick is pleased to be covering numerous aspects of Photography, especially his newly founded School of Photography, based in Southwold. He is convinced, whichever media; Wedding Photography, Courses, Commercial commissions, Portraiture or Fine Art everybody can ‘escape through photography’.
